Background
As Grove transitioned 100% of traffic to PATH—which enforces stricter Quality of Service (QoS) checks—they observed that, despite more than 100 nodes being available on the network, the protocol-defined maximum of 5 nodes per session was sometimes insufficient, as all could fail QoS validation. This led to failed requests and degraded service for Grove’s customers.
To address this, we’ve increased the maximum number of nodes per session to 10. The goal is to use the minimum number of nodes necessary to reliably form a session, without setting the number so high that session formation becomes difficult and traffic goes unserviced. Striking this balance is critical at this stage of the network’s development.
