[PREPROPOSAL] PoktFund 2022 LeanPOKT and Security Vulnerability Reimbursement

Solid pre-proposal start. LeanPOKT development is highly deserving and I’m glad this is moving forward!

What % of this proposal is to cover the lost opportunity vs reimbursement for the contribution itself?

I’ve been a stickler with structuring modeling of proposals, so forgive me if any of this is repeat of past comments

I don’t think the DAO can reward project’s based on their perceived market value (like the original proposal) or in this case the perceived market value that was lost (aka lost opportunity). I just don’t think that is a way the DAO should measure proposals. I don’t see that scaling, which is why I feel it’s important to measure things out.

While PoktFund did give much to the community by developing PoktFund and help other support it (which should be reimbursed), PoktFund did use the knowledge gained from that work to create your own version of geo-mesh client in the summer which never was opened sourced. PoktFund used that work on v0 to beat out many providers and become is the top node provider today.

POKTScan realized how top performing providers were doing it in the fall and opened it up to the whole community, despite the fact they could have kept it closed source to improve their own market share. Not sure then how we try to measure their lost opportunity if they were to submit a proposal.

To me, that is how open-source at work. LeanPokt dramatically reduced the cost of the network, helping the market no doubt… but at the end of the day, that work (which should be reimbursed by the DAO) lead to PoktFund being the biggest provider in the POKT ecosystem.

I may be shooting myself in the foot here as I am planning on doing a proposal for a new product we are launching called Community Chains and I’m limiting how I could eventually structure that proposal by being a stickler on structuring everything in measurable ways.

My suggestion would be to not have this proposal’s value be measured through lost opportunity.
