Abstract

The current MaximumChains parameter of 15 negatively impacts POKT’s economics, quality of service, and decentralization. This proposal argues for lowering it to a number between 1-3 based on data modeling and analysis.

Current Issues

  • Only 8 chains (AKA “Money Chains”) generate most of the rewards, centralizing infrastructure around those specific chains.

  • Imbalance barely penalized. Overprovisioning a given chain reduces rewards just slightly.

  • Many chains don’t generate enough rewards to justify running a node.
